Best micro SD cards to get... articles and debate.

There have been several posts claiming on-board storage was best for the phones over removable storage for various reasons. I still maintain it is about the manufactures profit. Here is a good article on that:

Well, what are you gonna do if you need more storage than what the Note 5 offers, 32/64???
Your STUCK!!!
This is why I'm staying with the Note 4... I can go all the way up to 128GB~

Which brings up the topic of which micro SD cards to get. Here are the best ones:
Top 7 MicroSD Cards for Memory storage in Smart Phones

The Best microSD Card | The Wirecutter

Myself, I'm using the best one both articles recommend:
Samsung EVO 32 GB UHS-1 48MB/s class 10

I also have used Sandisk cards and found them to be nothing but reliable, but I am currently testing a Lexar 633x 128Gb card for a friend (who said it doesn't work well in his phone) and that seems to be Note 4 compatible also, at least in the week that I have tested it.

Regards,
Eric.

Perfect for my Note5.
Appears they've hidden the slot this year,BRB......................... ;)

You mean you didn't find the NFC SD card adapter and a roll of duct tape in your Note 5 box? You might want to have another look. Although, with the adapter in use, the sleek look of the phone is lessened a wee bit and parts of the screen are hard to read, but I try not to complain ;)

Regards,
Eric.

P.S. In all seriousness there is this, but me not happy.

Mfgrs are either brainless or the buyers are. My point being -
Q: how the h311 ya gonna access onboard storage if you brick it or break the mini USB port?
A: you don't. You're screwed, hope the data wasn't life altering.. Shame on the flawed design of non removable storage! JS..
Stick with removable SD cards: your kid's childhood pics may be saved - via an unfortunate fellow I witnessed with that dilemma.

And that's a damn fine point.

I guess bricking would be a bit of an inconvenience, but backup over WiFi should still work assuming the OS (and wireless charging) is still working.

As Javaman says, backing up before every software update will be essential in the future. Now I just have to remember to do that... shame I have such a bad memory :(

Eric.

I've had the MEENOVA for quite some time, saved my a** with the OPPO N1 (deleted system by mistake w/no backup on phone).
Luckily,OTG worked in TWRP & all was well within minutes......

A bit of overkill I think. Maybe that will drive the price of a 128GB down...

I bought a Samsung 32gb Class 10 micro sd card about 5 years ago and it's been in 3 different phones and is still just as fast as the day I bought it.Hell its in my new LG G4 and now,I've got 64gb. internal/external storage.
SanDisk also makes good micro sd cards.

That also has a 10 year guarantee! Because of that and the great reviews I got the Samsung EVO 32 GB UHS-1 48MB/s class 10 just a couple days ago when I started this thread.

Has anyone tried a 200Gb card in the Note 4 yet? My wife has filled up her 128 Gb card and I'm looking for a potential solution. I had her try a cloud solution, but she found it more cumbersome and frustrating. I hope someone could provide feedback on using the 200Gb card.

I have one that I'm using in another phone & it works great (actual storage capacity is 183GB,200 - partitioning).I know,I know,it's just like the U.S. MPG claims on automobiles.....................

It will work in the Note4,regardless of what the spec sheet says as far as SD Card size limitations.
Just pop-in & play......................

If you're still not convinced it will work, Amazon & Best Buy have money-back guarantee return policies.

Thank you KOLIO! I appreciate you making the capacity distinction. The extra space is key and would make my wife happy, so I'll probably be getting one very soon.

The good news for all micro SD users here... is the upcoming March launching dated for the Samsung S7 & S7 Edge+ is they're bringing back the micro SD support!
