Root Best, most solid, Rom for Epic 4g Touch?

I am currently running the universe rom(v2.0.fh13) on ICS (fh13)

Its the first Rom I have ever Flashed. I have CWM v5.0.2.1

So my question is, have any of you found a really solid rom that works great and will will work for me? I am having issues with the unlock screen taking a while to come on after ive pressed the unlock button, and also with the proximity sensor being slow after ive finished a phone call. But, those are both issues I had before i ever even rooted.

Any suggestions?

I am also curious about this as well. I was wondering what a good ICS rom is and whether any of you have had success at improved battery life by running a different ROM.

When I run the clean ID from sprint, it looks quite a bit like CM9 I used to run on my photon. CM9 had some issues like bad camera and no portrait, and eventually I ended up bricking my phone, so I am a little gun shy here. 2.3.5 was pushed in soak test and killed me.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
 
I'm using this Rom right now but the proximity sensor still has lag after I pull the phone away from my face. The delay is not as bad as it was on the stock rom but still annoying. Anyone found a rom that helps this issue?
 
The universe rom has significantly better battery life than stock ics (probably because of cpu sleeper).

I still havent had the guts to run any other ROMs yet. I might try a version of MIUI soon. When/if I do, I'll let you know.
