I have an android tablet in my sitting room whcih is what get used for everyday use. I also have and android phone, and I have PC in the spare room which has all my files on it (music movies etc).
Now, what I require is an app that allows me to access all my files that are located on my PC via my android devices through my home network, so I can watch a movie or listen to my music on my tablet or phone.

ES File Explorer allows (wireless) file management. Not opening and running them.

To watch a movie or listen to music on your tablet or phone install (free) AudioGalaxy on both your PC and your Android devices.

Then you can watch your movies or listen to your music, wirelessly, wherever in the world you have either a mobile network connection or a WiFi connection to your phone or tablet.
BUT I advise strongly to NOT do that over mobile networks (GSM, 2G, 3G, 4G, GPRS, EDGE, etc.) if you don't have to because it will eat up your dataplan in no time, with very expensive bills as a result!

try opening the internet browser and inputting the IP address of the pc ur trying to get the files from. theoretically this should work when ur connected to ur network wifi

I must be using it wrong then, because I open and play MP3 and other media files wirelessly over the network in my house every day using ES File Explorer. That was my understanding of the OP's question. Maybe I read it wrong.

I've also installed APK files that reside on my desktop to my phone using ES File Explorer over my network. Guess that wasn't supposed to happen, either.

You may want to let the developer know that ES File Explorer isn't supposed to open and run files over the network. He'll probably want to remove the built in Streaming Media Player, since it's not supposed to be there and all. He even went so far as to call it "ES Media Player." What an odd name, since his program clearly isn't meant to open and run media files.

Thanks for the replies guys thats great!

Just one more thing to add....
If using ES File Explorer or Audio Galaxy, am I able to access my media files that are located on my external USB hard drive that is connected to my PC (its always connected to my PC)??? As my past experiences with these types of programmes is that you can only access the media files if they are located in C:
Also, are you sure Audio Galaxy allows you to play your video files??? When looking at it on the market, it just says that it can stream music?!?

Thanks again folks.
