........don't require a data/internet plan?

I'm really contemplating getting a Droid/Eris/possibly the Passion down the road. But I don't really "need" to search the internet on the phone. It'd be nice, but not a requirement. For the past 5 years, I've had a KRZR and have been just fine using my phone just for calls and txts.
With that in mind, what are some of the newer phones that are great that don't require a data plan? It can be with any network, as I'm with US Cellular, and gonna leave them. I'm leaning towards Verizon, but it's not set in stone.

Thanks in advance!

All new smartphones on Verizon will require a data plan. That includes Blackberry, Windows Phone and Android.

Take a look at the Samsung Rogue, LG Env Touch, LG EnV3, Motorola Entice, Verizon Razzle, Nokia Shade, and Samsung Alias. They look like the highest rated phones for Verizon right now.

Most of those require data. The barrage rock and convoy are all good phones. Really impressed with convoy for the price. Odd though that VZW will sell a t2t phone and not require that feature but an entice of all things requires data. Just evil I say

Any new feature phones on Verizon released in Sept '09 or after now require a data plan. It's gonna get difficult to find a phone on Verizon for cheap on a monthly basis unless you're cool with banging out texts on the keypad of a budget Verizon flip phone.

That is for sure, Kyler13. My step sister got her daughter the EnV2 on a pay as you go plan. They don't use their phones often for voice, but do use the web and texts. Since she's pretty frugal, I can't imagine it being too bad of a deal.

They've also changed the pay as you go plan so that you don't lose your unused minutes within 60 days or whatever it was.

My husband is using the Motorola MOTO™ W755 in Black Slate. I liked it but decided I was going to try to join the 21st century and get smartphone. I think it's a really nice basic phone and it looks nice too. I tried one for a while...but opted against it. If you are into texting it might not be the best...
