Best Phones (out already or coming out) for Composite Output

This question has been asked in some way, shape, or form once before, but my situation is a bit unique and I couldn't find it on here.

6 months ago I put a Pioneer 4200DVD into my car...we make tons of long road trips, so I wanted something that we could watch movies on during those trips. The 4200DVD has composite cable input on the back to hook up a DVD player OR any other auxilary video source.

The cell phone was sort of the future master piece I was hoping would complete this ultimate puzzle. I want to be able to use my phone to watch movies and EVENTUALLY live TV (through the NFL or MLB apps on 4G one day, or Netflix)..or even navigation for that matter.

I currently have the Droid 1, but I'm getting set to upgrade in a few months and need a list of ALL currently available or anticipated phones
that can do this via an affordable solution (getting mixed information about the HDMI to Composite converter option which either doesn't work or is insanely expensive).

What phones can help me do this AND how? Through the mini USB? Through the 3.5mm jack? Through the HDMI?

Should the phone be rooted for some special app?

I know the Incredible does it through the usb port with an adapter. THere are a few with hdmi out, but you will need a downcoverter, and the cheapest one i have seen is 150 bucks
