Root Best rooted thethering app for n7

I want to update my phone to ICS but loose built-in tethering therefore can't tether to my n7. Now do you guys tether besides to the build in one?

Does the "official" wifi tether app work for you? It stopped working for me once I upgraded to JB on my Nexus.

I use the one in the settings app on GB and it works. Built in don't work on ICS for us

Not the same devices, but I do tether my WiFi only Xoom using that app to my Droid Incredible.

Can't make it work on my HTC Rezound either, rooted, ROM'd and custom recovery.

Nexus 7 never finds the wifi tether on the Rezound.

Here's a link to xda site, hope that's ok with the mods. I used this to tether my HTC rezound, with GB, CleanROM 1.7, and root. I can connect my nexus 7 and my laptop to my phone either with 3G or 4G.

It also has some info on ICS as well.

I did this with both ICS and now JB on my GNex and it works flawlessly.

Agreed. I use it with my GNex to tether and have had no problems. I don't understand why anyone needs to install anything on the N7 to tether. Just make a wifi connection to the tethering device. I must be missing a use case or something.

I fired up Foxfi for the first time on my Bionic at a softball game, started the hotspot, and a Blackberry Playbook was online in about a minute. No special app on the Playbook.

Yeah, but I'm running Ginger Bread. Had to do some rigamarole to get GB to use infrastructure rather than ad-hoc.

But it works now.
