Best sms application

I have been using my note 8 for about 2 weeks now. I don't fully care for the stock messenger. What's the best one out there right now?

As a SMS/MMS app (so no internet messaging) I prefer either Chomp or Textra. Textra actually has some features I like better (the bar that shows you the date when you scroll back through a thread, or the ability to change the colour of the icon) and is lighter, but Chomp is more flexible with the actual in-app theming.

At the moment I'm using Chomp, after using Textra for the last couple of years (just for a change, and because my current phone doesn't need the lightest and fastest app any more). I should add that both are from the same developer.

Textra is great, my favorite of all I've tried.

But. I'm actually just starting to use Pulse and like it. I wanted something like Google Voice where I can use it on the laptop or phone. I had tried a few others (Pushbullet and umm...) but they got pricey. Pulse is getting the job done so I'll buy the lifetime plan and hope they don't shut down :D

That all being said, if you just use the Android app as a stand-alone it's totally free.

I have to agree with most of the posts, its based on individual preferences. To be honest, I change texting apps about as often as I change socks. I'll use one for a while, then want a change and go for another. To differ from the above, I have tried Textra and Chomp and don't care for either. ATM, I am preferring the Samsung Messages app. That will change shortly, I'm sure. I also like the Verizon Message+ app, but sometimes its cumbersome. Another that I have tried, its been a while, is Evolve. Not sure if they still exist or not. Anyway, find one that suits your needs and stick with it. No one on the other end will ever know what you are using!! It can be your little secret.

I liked it, but found something that it didn't do, or I didn't like, or I just got bored with it. Anyway, after I posted, I went looking for it and now it is installed. We'll see how it goes this time. I didn't mean to hijack the OP's question with a thread on Evolve, but I guess it sort of fits.

Overall, use what fits you best!

bump.

I'm having trouble with my Verizon Message+ app and considering another or just going back to the Google version. I liked the M+ because I could change the looks and it was so easy to add a picture with just one touch. What say ya'll?

Next SMS. Nothing even comes close. The clowns at textra or chomp, have absolutely no clue as to what customization means. Their customer service is even more pathetic than their garbage apps!

Handcent Next sms? It's been forever since I used Handcent, did they change the name or are you talking about a different app that I don't see?
