Best way to execute a successful trade?

Hey Guys,

Just looking to see who if anyone has completed a trade using the classified section on here. I have been trying to make a trade, but what is acceptable for who ships first, etc? I think this would be helpful to anyone looking to make a trade.

Those who have completed successful trades, let's hear it -- how did you do it?

Thanks, and I think this could be a helpful thread.

I have done a successful trade on here, and the items that were traded were both in the $1000 bracket. I was trading an Ipad 64gb wifi and 3g for a macbook pro. The way i did it, was first found a reputable member who had done trades before and had a good reputation. Then we both agreed to ship out our items on the same day, but i probably would have shipped first if needed. It takes trust, but after you get to know people on here and who they are it becomes easier to go from there. It does take a big piece of trust in someone being good, but either then that its just the terms you come up with, with the other person.

I agree. I my experiences, the member with more/better rep get the upper hand (shipping second or atleast getting a deposit that will be refunded after your item arrives). You just have to have some trust and google the SN to make sure there are not any reports of scams anywhere.

You can also ask for references from the other member, such as other members on the board who they have dealt with, the bay accounts, or other forums that they deal with on a common basis.

I have had 4-5 successful deals up here... Communication is a must, and I usually keep in contact by gmail so it comes instantly to my phone without giving my personal number...

Also look at details... If they only have 2 posts, and one is the thread to sell their item then you may wanna leave that one alone...Even though there isnt a dedicated feedback system yet, you can ask for who they have dealt with and PM them if need be to check on their experience...

Anytime Ive ever traded on a forum, regardless of how reputable the other person is, I like to find a happy medium for cost and have myself and the other person send a paypal for the cost (ie i paypal the other person a set amount, they paypal me the same amount). that way, if there are any issues, the charge has a prayer of being disputed, either via paypal or visa. Yes, I realize paypal is difficult to deal with if its not over ebay (and this is where trust and the other party's reputation comes into play) but atleast there is a record and you can make a good faith attempt to dispute the charge.

Ive done maybe 5 or 6 trades with people that Ive "come to know" on various forums, and have never had any issues
