Best way to port and terminate?

I've been seeking a specific phone number for a long time. I just found out I can get it from Sprint. However, I don't want to stay with Sprint.

What would be the best way (fastest, cheapest) to sign up to get that phone number, then port it to my preferred provider, and close the Sprint account?

What is the ETF with Sprint?

It depends on if you got any discounted device from them and signed any contract. If not, there will be no ETF in your final bill.

If you already have a phone that will work with Sprint you should be able to activate it on a non-contract plan then port out right away.

sprint is doing without contracts now (like most carriers). Simply buy a cheap sprint phone (probably a used flip phone). Sign up with Sprint using the cheap phone you are signing up with. And being there is no longer 2 year contracts, Port it over to another carrier, and you will be good.

Sprint still offers 2 year contracts for phones, although they're not as popular anymore.
