best way to root galaxy s7?

You'll have to tell us which model of S7. These things are different between Qualcomm (North America) and Exynos (rest of the world) models, and for American models can depend on whether it's a carrier-branded phone or an unlocked one.

Uh.. no. All US brands S7 devices have locked bootloaders. Only the international versions can be TWRP'd and ROM'd.
** BUT ** There IS a CfAutoRoot available that can be flashed with ODIN, but I'm truly uncertain about that since you said it was Verizon carrier and they are notorious for being anti-development
