My current razr maxx hd front camera lens is clouded over with lint and it has some burn in images on dark screens. Im getting a factory warranty replacement tomorrow in the mail ,Whats the best way to transfer all my settings and apps etc? Or am i stuck doing everything one by one and taking days to get all my stuff back how i like it? thanks

Apps - back up everything (you can use Helium to back up both the apps and the data for the apps, and SMS Backup & Restrore to back up your messages).

Your emails are backed up on the email servers you use.

If your contacts are entered as Google contacts, they're backed up at Google Contacts and when you put your gmail address into the new phone, it'll sync them.

Settings? Depends on the launcher you're using. Some launchers have backup and restore settings, some don't. If the one you're using doesn't, you'll have to recreate your homescreens - apps and widgets. (App settings usually back up with the app's data, but check each app to make sure you have the settings backed up if that app has a backup and restore in its settings.)

If you keep the phone backed up all the time (as you should - if you lose the phone or it gets destroyed, there's no way to go back and get all the apps and settings), that wouldn't be a problem when you get a new phone.

Are you rooted? If so, you can use Titanium Backup to backup the app and it's data. However, depending on what you get in return, if it's another HD MAXX and it has Kit Kat, then you're hosed as there is no root for Kit Kat (unless you have an unlocked bootloader). But, if the new phone has Kit Kat or android version greater than 9.16.9, then you can't unlock the bootloader.

However, if it has JB 9.30.1 or earlier, you can still root and then restore your app data that way.

If you get a new phone with Kit Kat on it though, there is no way to root it and no way to restore your app settings.

thanks i will look into the helium app.

This is not available for Motorola devices unless for some reason, it works on the RAZR HD.

There is a disclaimer by the developer about this in the Google Play store for this app.

If it DOES work, be aware that if you are on Kit Kat and not rooted, then writing to your SD card is probably not going to work due to the new security permissions that have been enabled where apps can only write to a "protected" area on the SD card. Also, when you uninstall an app, all data related to that app that was written to the SD card is removed/deleted. So, be aware of this.
