better battery stats results...

Eggtastic

Newbie
i downloaded the betterbatterystats for my s3 because i was told that it would help determine the cause of the redic. drainage of battery.

i also searched up and down these forums, and the developers guide on what to do from here. so apologies in advance if something similar was posted, i am just looking to finally get better battery life and advice from a more experienced person.

turns out the culprit is a wakelock issue regarding the "alarm management system". this alarm management system actually has nothing to do with the alarm clock, but whatever it is its killing my battery.

does anyone know where i would go to fix this issue and to stop, cancel, or whatever to prevent this wakelock issue? thanks!

Bbs is a great app. Let it run for a few charging cycles and it should actually tell you itself how to solve the issue

alarm manager is a consolidation of wakelocks under the alarms tab in bbs

to know what is causing wakelocks in alarm manager, you need your phone to be rooted to see the alarm panel in bbs to see which app is causing wakelocks.

u can try seeing the process tab to see which app is running excessively to pinpoint the problem

@OP I have the same issue! And honestly its ridiculous. There should have been an update pushed out a while ago to solve the wakelock problem.. it honestly doesn't rear its ugly head on my phone all the time, maybe twice a week I'll wake up to dead phone that had 50-60% the night before. Very annoying.

No update can fix the wakelock problem; they're usually caused by rogue and/or buggy software. Even Google's Chrome browser had a bug where it was using the gyroscope excessively, causing wakelocks. It takes a bit of investigative work to figure out what's causing it unfortunately. :(

That's the nature of an open OS - you have your freedom but sometimes things go wrong.

I recommend you install carat...its a true scientific university experiment...
Carat: Collaborative Energy Debugging

helps you debug battery issues. (though it takes like a week till it starts providing useful info)

also, to report your battery usage there is a widget called "battery widget reborn "
displays things quite nicely.
