Better Keyboard help?

Maybe I'm missing something, but after downloading Better Keyboard and installing it...it doesn't work. I enabled it, but still nothing. I have restarted my phone and still nothing. I have downloaded skins and all the settings show up, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? My phone isn't rooted, is that the issue? I have a HTC Eris.

nevermind...figured it out. Anybody have a good suggestion for a great looking skin?

make sure you check enable Better keyboard in options under "locale and text". Once you do that go back to your home screen and hold down the search button which should pull up google search. It should then ask what you want to use...check better keyboard (make sure you check set as default) and then it should work. Good luck!
