Big Clock on Lockscreen?

JohnrC

Lurker
Is there still no way to just add a big clock to the lockscreen?

All searches for this turn up people recommending Widget Locker. But reading the reviews indicate heavy resource use, slowing down system, inconsistency between WL and home screen, etc.

Not to mention having to pay for something I need because of a visual impairment. Good grief. There are free apps to show you what shaking boobs look like, in case you haven't seen that.

I've tried LockBot but that's been flaky for me on the Samsung Fascinate 4S. Freezing after entering password; sometimes not locking the device at all; etc. Too bad. It's all that's really needed. Activate the device, see the time and date. *See* the time and date.

TIA for any advice.

Hey man not just a clock, dont know if your super worried about battery and whatnot, I Use WP Clock, its an active background, in the free version you can see if it works and its only customizable to white on black and black on white (saves the pixel juice I guess) but it should show whether or not it would do what you want, I paid the dollar for the full and it works well, can set whatever colors and background pictures you choose from your gallery or go solid colors if you choose. It has a Large clock (akin to the 2x4 stock clocks), a small battery level below the clock to the right and will display your wirless network on the lower left, the whole thing ends up being about halfscreen.

I use it on a commando 2.3.3, it hasn't even shown in my battery usage screen, nor has gallery, which i guess some live backgrounds will pop up.

Edit: It does show well through on my slide lock screen, but is harder to see under a pattern lock screen.

Good luck,
John

Oh so close. Thanks for your time, John, but unfortunately it's quite hard to see behind the lock screen buttons and text. Especially with its faint font.

Also just need it on the lock screen. It obscures home screen icons etc.

You're right. Battery level is great to have there.

No prob man, its what Ive been using, I think our lock screens are a bit different too(different UI), it shows just above my slider bar just as bright as it is on the home screens, I have it mostly covered on all but my center home screen also, the paid does different animations so I just made it scatter when I drag across, you can also change font and colors like I said but if its obscured no point in wasting $.

Good luck on your search,
John

There is no way unless you put in a different lockscreen that uses widgets, which is WidgetLocker. And from experience, I experience nothing of the sort regarding slow downs etc. Maybe those guys have a phone with weak hardware and they try to do too much.
