I have been gradually upping my account levels with T-Mo, as I was trying to make a graceful switch from AT&T...just wanted to make sure I had good T-Mo signal in the areas I frequent.
I started out with 500 minutes Even More Plus (no contract), and the $10 web2go data plan (good for 7+Mbs data on unlocked Nokia n900). Since joining TMo 12 months ago, I have upgraded to the 1000 minute plan, and recently unlimited minutes. My data plan was bumped to the $25/mo. "Android" plan, since buying the Defy...fair enough, as I purchased it sans subsidy, and stated I did not plan on activating it on T-Mo, since it has AT&T 3G bands.
I never had a text plan through all of this, since I rarely if ever text, but I ran into old friend, and by mid-cycle had racked up some 300+ texts. Figuring I'd have a fairly large bill this month, I tried to minimize "next month's bill" by adding unlimited texting. I was not able to do it online because "my plan was not compatible". I called CS, and they said that I'd have to get the "unlimited voice/text/data" plan, despite being on the "Android Data" plan. It ultimately saved me $5 from just "adding text plan", and I did not know that smartphones were eligible for the talk/text/web plans. The kicker though, is that the CS rep back dated the upgrade, nullifying the current text charges. Previously, my mid cycle upgrades (for minutes) were always activated during the next cycle, and I was charged overages. They were always done online however.
