Binaural, over-the-ear headsets for Samsung Galaxy 2

Binaural as in differing sounds on both sides of the headset with directional cues? At least that's the definition I know.

Do you want one with mic? If you are looking at sub $100 sets there are models from Sennheiser and Philips O'Neill at that price range but they don't have mic.

Binaural just means two ears, and I need it to be over-the-ear. And it needs to be a headset, w. a microphone, and not just a headphone.

Like these:
Passport
Senheiser

Nothing like either of these is listed on the Samsung or Sprint accessory pages for the phone.

They work on Samsungs. I've tested Senns. Personally I like Philips O'Neill series because they're built to be tough and durable and have very good sound quality for the price.

Senheiser told me one of their bluetooth models will work but I don't want bluetooth, though this is something to investigate if the quality on the other end is good--I have a hard time believing that as a lot of the bluetooth headsets put tiny microphones into the headphones. That has to suck for a listener versus a boom mic. I could be wrong. Also hate going through another step of pairing a device w/ the phone. Just want to plug something in.

Plantronics gave me nothing, Samsung and Sprint also came up with nothing in the binaural, over-the-ear category.

The Passport does appear it will work with a cable converter. Wireless Emporium also had a model it claims it is compatible.

For future reference, for anyone reading, the Samsung 3.5 mm jack on the Galaxy S2 is configured as follows:

Tip = Microphone
Ring= Ear
Rim= Ground

Confirmed this w/ Samsung.

On another note, there appear to be some incompatibility issues between headsets designed for three-button configurations w/ the iPhone and the Android. AiAiAi tracks, which makes a highly rated pair of OTE headphones w/ 3-button controls for the iPhone, told me they would be working on an adaptor for the Android. I have also seen apps to make the Android use 3-button headset functionality, but I am reluctant to go through the hassle of ordering the phones and checking compatibility w/ the free app. Will probably order the Passport and see how that works. ...

Overall, this was a *HUGE* pain-in-the-ass issue for the Android. They've got earbuds, bluetooth clip-ons--everything *but* over-the-ear models with boom mics. Granted, the OTE models are more used in call centers, but these days, I am using my cell as my primary phone and need it for extended conversations. So there...
