Help black dead screen

My phone was fine, then the screen went black, screen is non-responsive to pushing button to restart/shutdown. I can hear phone buzz, white circle with black center is on the upper left corner... OMG what can I do? My 95 year old uncle is in hospice and I need a phone, time is of the essence... thank you...

Any phone that buzzes is clearly malfunctioning.
Step into almost any store and get a phone off the shelf if needed quickly...

Like with all tech sometimes screens just give out. If "time is of the essence", then Dannydet's suggestion is spot on. Just grab yourself a cheap off shelf phone to deal with your uncle's situation.

As for your damaged phone, if it has a removable battery, try removing and putting it back in and powering it to see if it works. If the battery is non-removable then wait for it to drain so that it shuts down. Then fully charge it and power it back on.
