Black Screen

Lurker
I dropped my S7, and the phone still works, LED light is blinking and it's vibrating. However, the screen is black. It flickers for a split second, but that's about it. I am getting the S9 tomorrow as a replacement, but I had notes written in the memo android app and pictures that I desperately need off this phone.

I Googled for hours, and nothing is working because my phone is locked, and since the screen is black I can't unlock it. T-Mobile said they can't transfer that stuff for me, so please someone help me! I'm not trying to spend over $150.00 on a replacement screen for a phone that I won't use anymore, just to get these notes and pictures.

If the screen is smashed and the phone is completely inoperable, spending the $150 on the repair might be the only chance you've got I think. How important is this data to you?

What actual 'memo' app were you using for your notes? Because some of them do have cloud synching and backup, like Evernote or Onenote.

It's looking like I might have to repair it. What's left in the phone is very important. I wrote the notes in the stock Android app "memo".

FWIW I've never had an Android phone with anything called 'memo' on it before. Could be something proprietary to the S7 possibly, but isn't synced to Samsung's online cloud services?

I've been using Microsoft Onenote for a long time now, and that's always synced and available pretty much anywhere.

It must have been. I just ended up paying to get it fixed. I learned this lesson hard though. Everything on my new phone is synced through Google and Samsung now!
