Help Black Screen

snivag

Lurker
Hi was wondering if this is the end of my x10i.
My wife had downloaded monkey swing from Android Market and whilst playing it the phone screen went black now the phone will not start up again, I'm not implying that it had anything to to with the download but thought I would mention it.
I have taken the sd card out and tried starting it that didn't work, then tried taking the sim out, that didn't work, each time the phone vibrates when pushing the power button but nothing else happens, any help would be gratefully received, or does it look like a new phone.:(

Remove the battery and then put it back in...let it charge for 5 minutes and try turning it on while it is charging.

When you turn it on, it should vibrate once, keep holding for another 0.5 seconds before releasing, wait and hopefully it will start up.

Otherwise you might need to install PC Companion on your computer (that is on the phone or on Sony's website) and then go through the instructions it gives.

It will get you to plug the phone in while holding the back button on the phone and turning it on....in a specific order...it will tell you.

Reflashing/repairing SHOULD keep all her settings...it's like installing Windows overtop of itself...it both treats everything as new, but leaves everything else that was there.

I tried charging then starting but it didn't work and all I get when holding the power button is the led flashing red three times, it no longer vibrates, when connecting to PC Companion it doesn't even detect a phone connected so obviously I cannot update/reflash.
Thanks for the reply but unless someone else has any ideas I will be looking for another phone. Shame as I also have a x10 and love it, perhaps she'll buy an arc for me and she can have my x10.:D

When one of my phone's flashed red, it would detect for about 2 seconds.

I installed PC Companion and waited for it to tell me to make sure my phone is unplugged and I am ready to hold the back button.

Instead of plugging in and holding back button, I removed the battery too.

Plug in the USB cable to the phone and PC, then hold the back button and while holding that back button, slip the battery back into the phone.

That got it going and it actually stopped the reboot cycle it was in and started reflashing.

Could be different for you. Try another battery if you haven't....sometimes you can just visit a cell phone store and ask one of the techs to try a battery from a display phone....if that works...then buy a new battery.
