Help Black screen

Hello, I'm hoping to get some assistance or ideas with an issue. I've had the s6 for a little less than 2 months now. A couple of weeks ago, the screen went black and would not come back. I tried power + vol down and all the other tricks I've found, but nothing ever comes back on the screen. The phone will vibrate when calls are being received, as well as the different color LED will light up.
I would try to wipe the phone from Smart Switch, but it says "The phone is locked so you cannot connect to it."

I sent the phone to Samsung for a warranty repair, but they wanted to charge me around $300 for repairs to the LCD which I think is insane. There is absolutely no visible damage to screen. It always had a screen protector

Yeh $300 bucks is about right for Samsung AMOLED screen replacement. Are you absolutely sure you didn't impact, drop or other extreme force to the phone?

FWIW I had a Galaxy S AMOLED screen go when phone was in my pocket. They quoted me equivalent of $250. I didn't bother, and replaced it with a Lenovo instead.

Yes I'm sure - is it even possible to damage to LCD without damaging the glass? I never even had the phone in my pocket. I used an Otterbox Defender with the belt clip.
It's just frustrating.
