Blackberry to Andriod?

The Samsung Galaxy phones (Captivate on Rogers and Vibrant on Bell) are awesome phones, I am salivating over them. Only real difference is that the Vibrant (Bell) has the front-facing second camera, and the Captivate does not.
The only other Android phones out for which you may want to wait are the HTC Evo 4G, or the Droid X. Neither has been announced by any carrier in Canada yet.
Telus has the HTC Desire, which is similar to the official Google Nexus One (not quite the same).
Also, when Rogers launches new Android phones, the price tends to come down a lot after only a few months, so if you can hold off, you might want to.

I went from a dumbphone to an android while my mom went to a BB.
I've had more problems trying to troubleshoot anything she has going on with her BB than I do with my Android. The BB system isn't as simple as it first seems and my mom isn't even looking at the "advanced" functions of her BB (ie. email, BB messenger, etc.). I find the menus are terribly confusing and the fact that the BB store isn't already ON the BB (while the market comes with any android phone) was completely foreign to me.

I hate having to help my wife with her work BB. I am so used to scrolling the screen with my finger on Android it drives me crazy having to use the stupid BB track ball! (I got my wife a Dream for personal use).
The new BB torch looks like it will be good for BB users who want to stick with BB, but want the sorts of features Android and iPhone users have.
As for getting used to Android, it's like moving from any OS on a computer to any other OS (or form one program to another). There will be a learning curve.
Just remember the following:
1. The HOME button will always take you back to... the Home screen!
2. The BACK button will always take you back one step from where you are. If you find yourself somewhere you didn't expect to be, start by pressing the Back button until you get to where you started, and try again. Eventually you won't be doing this any more.
3. Android apps hide a lot of stuff in Menus, accessed by pressing the Menu button. If you are any app, and not sure what to do, press the menu button and see what pops up. Quite often subsequent actions will become obvious from the menu, as well as finding lots of functions you would not otherwise have known were there.

I read a bit into the GPS issue, most people are reporting it to be a software-related issue.
The truth is, how much GPS usage will you get? If it is even slightly intermittent, wouldn't that only affect you if you were using Google Navigation?
My Dream has a GPS in it, and it takes a long time to acquire the signal. However, once it has it, it works great.
I fired off a message to a guy that just received them in his store. I'll keep you informed.

I originally came from a Blackberry Bold 9000 to the HTC Magic to now a Nexus One. When you give up your blackberry you should make sure that you are okay with forgoing the benefits of the BBM. That is one thing I missed the most, but now I am ok with not having BBM. I do not by any means miss the Rogers Bold deciding to restart and drop calls consistently.
I would suggest to steer clear from the X10 or the X10 mini. I've been using the Mini for the past three days and although it is definitely a super mini experience, it also is very minimalistic and full of headaches. With a T9 keyboard at the helm, it makes it rather challenging to type anything from an email to a text message. Sure you can download a keyboard from the Market but it just isn't the same experience.
As MJSCHMIDT suggested the HTC Desire is a great device, which if you are interested can be bought out right, unlocked and used with any carrier of your choice. However keep in mind that the Desire unlike the Nexus One is only a dual band phone so be ready to enjoy EDGE only experience.

Makes me think that Rogers fell asleep when Samsung was presenting device choices to them, or they don't really understand the benefits of the front-facing camera.

I don't know if it's in every store, or for every phone, but I went to Costco and there was a Wireless Etc. reseller (Bell, Fido, Virgin and Rogers) and they basically give you the price of the phone back in Costco gift cards, so you just end up paying the taxes. If you're a member, or if you know a member, might be worth a trip, this way you wouldn't have to wait for a price reduction.
They didn't have a large selection though.
