Have there been any recent announcements with this? Seems that gingerbread would have been a great place to reveal this for the end user, but none of the reviews of gingerbread even hint to this. I havnt really seen any news on it since google bought them... Is it still all speculation at this point?

Interesting. So essentially what the keyboard is doing is that it's measuring the offset between where the key actually is and where you are pressing, and compensate for that.
