Blinkfeed

I finally removed Blinkfeed from my home screen pages. Blame News Republic for displaying more fake news and clickbaiting sources than ever before, and now not allowing users to block the worst sources.

It's too bad, as just last week I was coming to realize that Blinkfeed and News Republic had matured into a very respectable and useful news reader. And then something snapped within News Republic.

No more. Gone!

Now searching for something else....

I'm with you not for the fake news part but because I never thought that kind of info on your home screen was a good thing. Samsung has something similar and I kicked that off my Sammy devices too.

I had pushed it off to a side panel and tweaked it to a point that I was really liking it, but this new onslaught of fake news is just astonishing. It's like News Republic got hacked, but their customer responses to the latest Google Play reviews just seem to say that these news source changes are deliberate. SMH!!!

I no longer trust the News Republic app or its developer. Clickbaiting, fake news and deflective responses to Google Play Store reviews have convinced me that they can't be trusted with an app that constantly runs in the background on my phone. If you can, go into settings/apps and disable this app. Not a trusted developer.

They fixed it! Version 7.0.0 seems to have resolved the fake news and clickbait hijacking that took over News Republic in the last version. It's better than ever now, and has restored value to Blinkfeed.
