Help Blockheads trade portal

I know this is not about Android but it is an Android app so here goes.
I play a lot on the game The Blockheads and am considering crafting a trade portal, but as I do not have Wi-fi at my house I wouldn't really like to pay 170 time crystals for something I can't use.
So, can anyone tell me: does the trade portal on The Blockheads need internet to work?
