Bluetooth Between Headsets

Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to talk between two headsets so that when I'm speaking into one, it's heard in the other and vice-versa. Ultimate in sound quality is not required. I'm hacking a bluetooth earset as an interface to an amateur radio. The other end is a helmet headset.

Applications I've looked at that I'm not sure will do what I want:
- Android Intercom Beta
- Blue Talkie
- BlueChat
- Bluetooth Chat Pro

Most others I found require two Android handsets. That's getting to be more hardware and $$ than I'd like for this project.

I'd appreciate any feedback on whether any of these apps work like I want, or if you have any other ideas. TIA - JF

Wait....you contradict yourself in your post.

First, you said you want to be able to speak into one handset and hear it in another, but then you said you don't want to use more than one handset. Which one is it?

I think it's a terminology thing. I'll try again.

Headset == part you talk into and listen to that's separate from the phone.

Handset == The part in your hand. Essentially, the phone.

Basically, what I'm looking for would use the phone to pass the audio data from one headset to the other. Talk in one - hear it in the other.

This is different from what I've seen asked about, either:
- listening to two BT headsets simultaneously to hear the same music, or
- using two headsets on the same phone call in a 'conference mode'

In the end, I'd have the speaker output from an 'ear mounted' style headset going into the mic input for the radio. The speaker out for the radio goes into the mic input of the headset. The other headset would function normally on my head.

Are you just using basic pc headsets? I'm curious to the make and model numbers of the ones you're using.

Just to be clear, haven't done this yet. I'm hoping to find an app to take care of the 'software' part of the project. Since I've got the hardware, I'm confident (?cocky?) that's no problem.

I've got a Plantronics 'earset' I found for cheap as the donor for the radio interface. Sound quality wasn't a huge consideration since it's only 300-3kHz anyway. Works ok with my phone.

For the other end, I've got a Parrot Helmet Headset I found on one of those '1 sale a day' web pages for under $50 - a steal! It also works really well with the phone. Has voice activated functions, a remote control for on the handle bar, etc, it's pretty trick.

I suppose I could try to write my own, but I like reuse! :D
