Bluetooth choppy and stuttering

I am using a brand new ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 running android 7.0. I am having some issues with bluetooth. I have two pairs of wireless headphones. One is the Samsung Level On Pro, the other is the Bose SoundSport wireless ear buds. When I use these two headsets with my phone or laptop I can easily walk 20-30 feet away and they still work fine. But when I connect them to this ASUS tablet I have to keep the headsets within 1 foot of the tablet. Any more than that the audio gets super choppy and stutters. Even at 1 foot away it will get choppy if I do so much as turn my head so that my head is between the bluetooth receiver/transmitter a d the tablet. So far I have wiped the system cache via recovery mode and I have also updated firmware for the tablet. What else can possibly fix this issue?

I just tested my bluetooth items with my tablets Wi-Fi disabled and it works fine. Does android 7.0 have any settings for Wi-Fi to remedy this?
