Bluetooth Hands Free Routing

Hi, I have a bluetooth A2DP receiver for use with my phone (Galaxy S4) to allow me to stream music to my car stereo (aux. audio in jack). I could also use this as a hands free telephone kit, except that the bluetooth receiver doesn't have a microphone (I can still hear the caller via bluetooth). Is there an app available that will route the caller's voice via bluetooth whilst allowing me to use the phone's built in mic? Thanks. PS my phone isn't rooted.

I doubt that such an app is available because your receiver dongle and your phone negotiate a connection as a stereo receiver under the protocol known as AVRCP, not under the headset protocol known as A2DP, therefore the Bluetooth software stack (deep in the guts of your phone's OS) behaves accordingly. (And drops the Bluetooth audio connection during phone calls). I suspect that would be very difficult (and probably impossible) for an app (which operates at a high level on top of the OS) to override the behavior of the OS's Bluetooth stack.

As you probably know, there are many different (low-priced) stereo Bluetooth receiver dongles (probably similar to yours) that can do what you want because they also have microphone functionality.

Thanks for the comprehensive response. Yes, I think I came to the same conclusion after a bit more research, so have just ordered a bluetooth receiver with handsfree and A2DP.
