I finally broke down and got a Bluetooth headset, after telling everyone I wasn't going to buy one until I got one that looked like Uhura's earpiece in the original Star Trek series. (I'm still waiting for a flip-phone that looks like a Communicator, too.)
It's great, especially with the "AutoAnswer" app that detects that I'm using BT and automatically picks up the phone if it's someone I know.
But there's one annoying thing that makes me want to yank the thing out of my ear and throw it across the room. Whenever I'm in an area where my cell service drops out, the "helpful" device starts beeping to let me know. But I'm on T-Mobile, for crying out loud... my own LIVING ROOM is a dead spot, not to mention anywhere outside the city limits. So the headset is pretty much useless for wearing while I'm doing errands in the house, or while driving anywhere except to and from work.
I can't find a setting to tell the phone to quit telling the Bluetooth headset about my network status. Is there something I'm missing in the stock Android (Froyo) OS, or is there perhaps an app out there that will give me more granular control over my Bluetooth settings?
(And while I'm at it, I want a pony, and also a way to disable the "Voice Dial" function that opens up when I push the BT headset's button.)
