Bluetooth Keyboard Timeout Help

I have a Galaxy Tab 7.7 and a Galaxy Nexus, and have this problem with only with the Galaxy Tab on Honeycomb, and not on the Nexus with ICS, so I'm hoping someone knows how to fix it. Can't find the answer by google.

I have paired a bluetooth keyboard, and it works fine, but if I haven't pressed any keys on the bluetooth keyboard for roughly two seconds, there is a large delay the next time I press one of the keys. If I press a key within one second, it is instant. Since I want to use the keyboard for gaming, I really need to find a solution. Of course, when paired with my computer or with the nexus, I have no such issues.

I had the same issue with WiiMotes when pairing them directly with an emulator, but did not have the issue when using the WiiMote Controller app, so I'm sure there's a way around it. I imagine it's a bluetooth timeout setting somewhere deep in android?

Any info and possible fixes would be greatly appreciated!
