Bluetooth Keyboard

I have a Bluetooth keyboard. I notice that if I don't type for a few moments that it disconnects. I hit a few keys and it reconnects. Is there any way to keep it connected at all times?
 
It works on the similar principle of your smart phone's screen. Just the way the screen gets locked after the default time period the keyboard also shuts itself to preserve power consumed. You can probably change the default time in the setting or you can also turn down the feature if required.
