Bluetooth low volume

Since updating to Oreo 8.1 the max Bluetooth volume on Pixel 2xl has been very low Any ideas how to increase it? I've tried a number of apps plus the disable absolute volume setting in developer options. I would prefer not to root the device. Thanks...

Only with Soundpeats q29 Bluetooth earbuds ... Alth the only other Bluetooth device I connect to is the car and it seems to be OK...

It's still too quiet with Absolute Volume disabled and the volume turned all the way up on both the phone and the earbuds?

Yes, I can only adjust the volume on the phone and not the device I had been using the earbuds for a few months with no issue... The low volume problem only happened in the last couple of weeks which coincides with the latest OTA oreo release...

If the earbuds don't provide any volume control then the absolute volume toggle isn't really needed. Absolute Volume was introduced with Marshmallow (I think?) and lets you tie the phone and audio device volume levels together rather than controlling them independently. (Before AV, you'd basically have to set either phone or audio device to max volume and then actually control the volume from the other one.)

I've checked with a coworker running the April security patch on his Pixel 2 XL (since I'm running the Android P preview) and he says his Bluetooth earbuds (which similarly don't provide volume control) are working normally. He was able to raise the volume high enough that I could hear the music being dumped into his ears from several feet away.

Do you have another phone or device you could pair your earbuds with to test?

Thank you for that... Tried them on another device and have the same problem therefore going to send the earbuds back as defective as they are still within the warranty
