Bluetooth (or app) keeps losing track of key tracker

I'm on my second bluetooth key tracker, a Pebblebee "Finder", having replaced my Tile "Stone" keytracker once the battery died. On both key tracker devices the Android app for the device has continually lost track of the keytracker, or doesn't keep tracking it, which makes it pretty useless in the event I lost my keys and wanted to find them. The apps will usually say something like "last seen 8 days ago" or whatever time I last "forced" the finding of the tracker device. Every time I want the app to "see" where my keys are I usually have to stop and restart Bluetooth or more likely, restart the Zenfone and then it "sees" the tracker. My Zenfone is on Android 8.0.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
