Bluetooth problem with Droid Maxx

I'm hoping someone here can help.

I have a Droid Maxx running 4.4.4. I use the original Jawbone Era. When I use the voice commands through the Jawbone to make a call, the phone makes the call, but there is no audio through the Jawbone. I have to switch the call to the handset or speakerphone to hear any audio. This happens about 75% of the time, but occasionally works like it's supposed to. I receive calls just fine, and can hear all audio through the Jawbone.

I assumed the Jawbone was dying, so ordered another one, but it does exactly the same thing. So it has to be something with the phone. I haven't installed any new apps, but of course there are updates to existing apps almost everyday.

All other functions with the Jawbone and phone work fine, so I know it isn't losing the Bluetooth connection completely. It's just not hearing the audio for outgoing calls most of the time.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? It's very frustrating when on the road. I'd appreciate any help.

Well that's not good, apparently no one else here has experienced this problem. I've found it seems to be unique to Jawbone. All my other Bluetooth devices work fine. But since it's happened with two Jawbone Eras, including a brand new one, either there's an inherent problem with all Eras, or there's some new problem on the phone that only effects Jawbone.

I did try booting the phone into safe mode, and the problem still occurs. Implying it's not another app that's interfering. There are numerous posts on Jawbone forums about Bluetooth problems for the past couple of years, but mine just started recently. There doesn't seem to be a solution for it other than resetting the Era, and I've done that numerous times. It doesn't help. I can't help but think it has something to do with KitKat 4.4.4. Others have posted about numerous Bluetooth problems with KitKat.

If someone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I guess the new Era gets returned, and I'm in the market for another headset. The Era has worked great for me until recently, but at this point I'd have to say they have a 100% failure rate.
