Bluetooth restrictions

I bought a keyboard for my Motorola Triumph from Motorola, because their website listed the Triumph as a compatible device.
When I got it, it did not work. So I asked virgin why, they told me: "The Virgin Mobile bluetooth can only be used as a hand-free device"

What is their purpose of putting restrictions on bluetooth? And shouldn't they list somewhere stating that, that is the only use. I have looked through the whole User Manual and did not find anything stating this. Not even in the Bluetooth portion of the Manual.

Also will rooting solve this restriction

This isn't directed at the MT its a general VM bluetooth.

Well, seeing as how we can use bluetooth game controllers with it. I don't think that is true. You might need an app or root access to do it though. I haven't messed with it, but it should be possible.
It may be that there is not an app to make it work.

Good luck figuring it out.

You can try this app called Bluetooth Keyboard easyconnect. I downloaded this app trying to pair a bluetooth controller, it works to some extent but idk about your case. Give it a try and unpair what bluetooth device you had just incase. I dont have any BT keyboard but i know my BT mouse works. YMMY.
