Bluetooth Scanning?

Just a little thing I am curious about.....2.5 years ago I got a Sony Ericsson Satio, then went to a Nokia N8, then a Galaxy S2 and finally the Galaxy S3. With the SES or the N8 if I was sitting in a bar and scanned for Bluetooth devices they would typically come up with 6 or 7 names. In a similar bar the S2 and S3 will come up with one or none. Is the Bluetooth coverage radius on Samsung phones generally poor or is it the software? Would I be better off using an app?

For me it has been great. I was at a traffic light and i was able to pick up devices in other peoples cars. I haven't really tried since as my phone pairs with no issues now and i only pair it with my car. The next time i go out to a crowded location i'll try it out.

Oh it pairs fine when it sees another device but the thing is it doesn't seem to see as many as the N8 did. It would be interesting to know whether anyone has done a proper test, like taking two or more different phones to the same place and comparing them?
