Help Bluetooth TATTOO

Hi,

sorry for a noob question but I bought my son an Tattoo (cheap smart phone) thinking it would be able to do everything he wanted to do. However he informs me that it doesn't do the one thing he really wants which is transfer music between his friends. So I've done a lot of surfing to see if there is anything I can do to make it work which brings me to this forum. My question is what are my options? Am I right in thinking that if I root it there are apps that will do what I need?

afaik the only way to do Bluetooth file transfer is to update from Android 1.6 to 2.x.

We don't know if HTC will ever release this update, anyway, as you can find on this forum, some independent developers ported Android 2.x to Tattoo, even if not 100% of the functions is supported (but Bluetooth is working)
 
I have installed ES File Manager

It is free on the Marketplace and it does Bluetooth File Transfer - but I've not tested it...

I use it to connect and copy file to/from my Windows XP computers over WiFi
