Bluetooth to 3.5mm for my car?

DWilliams

Newbie
This is a two part question.

To start, I'll explain what I'm trying to do. I use my phone for all music and audio in my car. My car has a 3.5mm AUX port in the console so I have a 3.5mm male/male cable connecting my phone to my car. It works fine, although it can be a bit annoying since the cable gets wrapped around my gearshift and parking brake, plus I cannot charge my phone while listening to anything since charging produces some interferance that makes the speakers crackle for some reason. To remedy this, I was hoping to somehow stream audio in my car via bluetooth.

This is where my two questions come up.

First: The Hardware
. What device do I need to do this? I don't want anything to plug into the headphone port on my phone, I just want to connect to it using the built-in bluetooth. Also, I don't want something that requires batteries. I have a normal car power port in my console right next to the 3.5mm input so it would be nice if it could run off that without needing a power inverter to make an AC adapter work. I'm hoping to pick one up for $50 or less.

Second: The Software. I don't know how this would actually work on my phone. Is there some app I need to re-route all audio out through bluetooth instead of the speaker? My phone is rooted so that's not an issue if it's required.

Thanks in advance!

You want the jabra cruiser 2

It it a bluetooth speaker phone and also has a fm transmitter so it will send the audio(phone and music) to your car radio

got mine on amazon for $69, so you will have a problem getting under $50

you can keep it plugged in the the car plug in, but once it's charged, it doesn't need to stay plugged in.

I've been using the Kensington LiquidAUX for the past year almost and whilst it was the cheapest solution I found (without wanting to use an FM transmitter), it has certainly played well for the past year - it has the added benefit of acting naturally as a loud speaker system for when somebody phones you .. the phone handles this of course.

Check it out here in the UK for

This is also another option and if you google it you may also find it closer to $50. I've read alot of good reviews about it and hope to own one soon.

This seems pretty much like what I had in mind as far as hardware goes.

Now I'm just curious how it actually works with Android? On my phone, how would I pair them up, and would all apps automagically output their audio through bluetooth and not the speaker?

Also what about audio quality? Will my music sound just as good over this as it does wired? Most of my music is around 320kbps, can bluetooth handle that?

I use a Moto Rokr T505 and it is fantastic. Audio quality once you find a good FM station to broadcast to is just as good as when I was using 3.5mm audio in. The battery last 1-2 weeks depending on how often you use it , and I use mine a lot. I even use it in my house to listen to tunes with out cables . Plus it's got call and audio controls on the unit it self and works great for handsfree.
Got mine off craigslist about a year ago fo r$40

I just checked out the links of the audio jack bluetooth recievers and those look great . I'm sure much more reliable then using FM
