Okay, this might be a little embarrassing, but most new phones ship with a plastic film over the lens to protect them in shipping. Did you forget to peel it off?
I have the same problem, and I checked, there is nothing covering the camera lens. How do you focus the picture? I touch the screen of the phone, hoping to focus it on the object, but it doesn't seem to get any more focused. It's really awful, I almost regret buying this phone. Is there a tutorial that goes into more detail on how to focus the photo?
I go into Settings, but I can't even find where you can set the focus (or if it is set to auto-focus). I just tried taking a photo of some handwritten notes, and cannot get a crisp image. I thought I was getting a 'bargain' buying this low cost phone, but I'm beginning to regret my decision. I'll go back to the Verizon store and see if they can check it out, maybe it is faulty.
I have that phone. Take another photo and try to hold the phone as still as you can. Phone photos are very susceptible to movement. If you can't hold your phone perfectly still, try resting the phone and your hands/arms on a steady surface. Also, try taking the photos from further away from your subject, sometimes that helps, especially with photos of writing. And go into the camera settings and see if HDR is turned on; if it is, try turning it off. HDR photos take longer to snap and there is greater potential that the phone will move between the time you press the camera button and the photo is actually taken.
