I'm interested in learning java in order to eventually be able to make write some apps. Can someone suggest a book or guide?
I found "Android Programming Tutorials" at amazon - would that be a good place to start? There are plenty of beginner java books but I think something geared specifically towards android would be more helpful.
I took C++ years ago, and I'm comfortable with linux (I'm RHCT) - so I don't need something from the very beginning, but I have no experience with java (unless you count this horrible on-line course I'm trying to take while at work... SkillSoft courses stink)
Sorta-related Q: Apps are in java, while the OS itself is mostly Linux, is that correct? Does anyone tinker with the linux itself, or just java for apps?
