Everytime I flash a kernel I don't have data anymore. Like when the phone boots up I don't have 3g or 4g and cant update profile he prl or profile. I'm running the stock 4.1.2 ROM. The kernel I flashed had a support for this version of android and i got the kernel like from are very own thread with kernels and Roms. I forgot the name of the kernel. Anyways does anyone know a way to get data working? I flashed it and followed almost all the steps except fix permissions which I would've did however I couldn't find the option in recovery mode. I'm running philz touch

Philz doesn't have the fix permissions option. As for what's going on, it would help if you knew the name of the kernel. It may be that you aren't flashing an up to date kernel, it could be that the kernel isn't compatible with the ROM you are running. There are a number of possibilities.

A good idea when posting for help is to have the name of the kernel you are using. Right now I would restore a backup and do some research on the kernel you are using. Sounds to me like your APNs are screwed up.

KTweakerKtoonsez presents:Quote:KT747 Jellybean kernel that's the kernel name. I never read the thread of the forum because I thought you guys wouldn't post something incompatible with are Roms and from what are thread says that this kernel suppose tw and aosp so I thought I was in goof hands. However after just getting the name I seen the first line of the thread that says must be on a sprint aosp ROM. So I see where things went wrong .

Make sure you always READ FIRST or ask questions before just doing anything that you are unsure about. Now that you went back and read you see the info about what you are using. In this whole section there are things that can be done with other things and there are things that cannot be mixed. :)

I absolutely agree with Cwhatever. One thing that can really mess your phone up is flashing the wrong kernel. Thankfully there are safeguards written into that kernel. If there weren't you probably would have bricked your phone. You always need to read the information very carefully. Both the 747 and the dkp kernels have working versions for both TouchWiz and AOSP ROMs.

Still someone needs to fix that kernel name in the thread then too because its misleading. It says it works for aosp and tw yet when flashed on are stock tw ROM well mines at least it doesn't give me data.

its not misleading your just misreading it says it works for touchwiz and aosp and it does. just not stock touchwiz. if your in this forum you know how to read! sorry if i sound like im being mean but READ READ READ everything before you flash or do anything on your phone if you know what could go wrong then it might be easier to find a fix.:) and also if you dont know what u flashed niether does any one in here details when u ask questions are very important to get help.
