Ive had boost for a few years. I want to stay with boost but I need a new phone. if I got a cheap unlocked sprint phone, would it work with my boost sim card

Hi, welcome to AF! As far as I know, Boost doesn't use SIM cards...

Technically Sprint phones would work fine since it's the same network but Sprint blocks them.
EDIT: However titetanium posted a list of some Sprint phones that you can BYOD below.

Palm - Boost/Sprint/Verizon do use SIM cards but only for 4G LTE - their real name is UICC but everyone just calls them SIM cards.

Boost does have a byosd list but it isn't a very long list. Try Googling because I know I've seen it recently, just can't remember where.

Afaik the cards aren't removable though (at least not easily and not in my One SV)

Yeah, it depends on the model for some reason.

For example the Sprint Galaxy S4 SIM card is very easy to replace, just remove the battery and pop it out. They even give you instructions how to do it.

The s5 uses a Sim card. They come pre installed under the SD card slot
