Help Boot Screen Constantly Cycles

CleanFlow

Galaxy SII (for Sprint)

I've looked at many other topics with similar problems, but mine is unique. With my phone, my cell and internet service always kicks out. I usually put it in and out of airplane mode to fix it. When that doesn't work, I just take out the battery and put it back in and all is well... for awhile.

This time when I took my battery out and put it back in, it won't completely boot up. I get the GALAXY S II logo, then the sprint 4g logo and all the flying yellow boxes and stuff, but it freezes on the 4g logo for about 5 seconds. Then it does the yellow boxes and freezes on the 4g logo again. So it's constantly looping the sprint boot image and won't actually allow me into the phone.

I have never damaged, rooted, flashed, or done anything to my phone except use it. I assume taking the battery out without shutting down the device has caused some sort of firmware problem? I tried to wipe the cache partition from recovery mode with no luck.

I also have the option of rebooting, updating from sd, wiping data/factory reset, and wiping cache partition. I need to fix this problem, but don't want to erase all my apps, pictures, data, and settings. Is there any way I can save my files or maybe fix the firmware or whatever without clearing all my data? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hopefully someone will chime in to assist you. Thread moved to the Samsung Epic 4G Touch forum. シ

When I reboot the phone (and also at seemingly random times) it will tell me there is an Android update and ask to restart the phone to install it. After the restart the Android logo shows, first with an open box graphic, and then the box turns into a triangle with '!' inside it. When that is showing I touch the menu button and it shows the menu that you are describing. For me, rebooting restarts the phone back to normal. Hope this helps.

I'm currently uploading a video to youtube to show you what's happening. Hopefully it will be up shortly. Search for "Samsung Galaxy S2 Boot Error RapscallionStallion". If the video doesn't show up, sorry, it may not be in the system yet.

But I have no ability to do anything. I would just transfer files through USB, but I literally cannot access anything in the phone, because the thing won't boot. Recovery mode is useless unless I can somehow download something onto my device through micro sd.

I just tried to look for the video through search and it hasn't shown up yet. If it doesn't work for you, search my channel "rapscallionstallion" and it should be the most recent video. If it's not there yet, then you'll just have to use your imagination!

I dont see any way you can save your data or settings. Apps can be downloaded again and you wont lose pictures. Next step would be factory reset.

"An error occured. Please try again later." is what I got when I tried to watch the video

Did you try rebooting it from this menu? When I get this menu I reboot and the phone starts like normal.

I had that happen with mine the day after the 2.3.6 OTA update came out some time ago. I took it in to a Sprint store and the rep checked all my settings. I'm convinced the guy was checking to see if I'd tried to root my E4GT. I hadn't... yet. After a bit, he said the only thing that would fix it was a factory reset, which he did. He was right.

Too bad I wasn't rooted back then.
