Root Bootloader has been successfully unlocked!

I REALLY would have thought there would have been more replies and people going batshit crazy about this. Hah.

Maybe they think that it's a joke/prank or that I'm trolling? Lol:p

just re-checked the link, and the unlocker has been released.

unless I missed something, this doesn't really mean anything to us right now since you have to be rooted to unlock, and - to be honest - I'm not quite sure what the hell unlocking the boot loader really does for the end user anyway.

It allows for more stable or aosp custom roms including full CyanogenMod support, custom kernels, changing radio files, standard cwm and twrp recoveries, and easier downgrading.

CyanogenMod support, recoveries and custom kernels are going to likely be the most popular items real soon.

Also, once unlocked, obtaining root will be easier if for some reason you lose it. Will be as simple as flashing in custom recovery.

Also, as a word of advice:

AVOID TAKING AN OTA UPDATE AFTER UNLOCKED.

Doing so could simply relock you in best case scenario or possibly hard brick you in worst case scenario.

I did it. Full backups is an advantage, recoveries that most everyone else is using, and just easier flashing.

Perfect example, I tried to put twrp on with a one click tool someone made. It didn't work for some of us, but doing it manually did. Even manually installing it was easy.

Oh...biggest advantage if it can still be done....custom kernels. I hope this means FM radio is a possibility now. If not, there are many good things about custom kernels. We just need folks that know how to do it to be interested.

im selling my note 2! ill be back to motorola asap! bootloader and root! this phone will be like a SUPER galaxy nexus!

I dont know....might wanna check the ROM scene first. Looks like its kinda small vs the Nexus scene. I dont even know if current Moto ROMs need to be changed or not. And there are few dev edition Moto ROMs, at least where I looked.

This. I came to the MAXX HD from a Droid X, and I didn't realize how much development varied from phone to phone.

Now, I'm not complaining about this. I just follow directions and don't know how to do anything past that when it comes to root stuff.

If I root my phone, will my best buy protection plan be voided?

If I unlock the bootloader, will it be voided?
