Help Bootloader Locked ?

I have studied that Samsung ship all phones with locked bootloader.
I want to ask that when we root Phone does we unlock bootloader ?
But If we unlock bootloader the phone should be factory reset but such thing does not happen after rooting.
May b I m wrong.
Can anyone clear my that concept ??
Thankyou

Unlocking the bootloader means security is turned off which is necessary to root or flash a custom rom.
Yes, unlocking the bootloader results in a factory reset

So , I rooted my SM-910H but my phone did not factory reset.
So, it meant that my phone has already unlocked bootloader ?

Actually Samsung phones usually come with an unlocked bootloader, not the other way around. FOR THE MOST PART, whether the bootloader is locked or not depends on the carrier. Some lock them some don't, and international versions of devices usually come with it unlocked.
