Bootloader Redmi k20 pro

IJorg

Lurker
If I buy Redmi k20 pro with unlocked bootloader, does it mean if bootloader is unlocked that phone is linked to someone's MI account because in order to unlock bootloader you must create MI account?

So it's ok to buy phone with unlocked bootloader, I won't have any problem to flash another ROM. Thanks :)

What is an 'MI account?'

Anyway, as Dannydet said, there shouldn't be a problem. Just out of curiosity, where do you plan to buy it?

Mi account is similar to gmail, it is your account for that specific smartphone, like Huawei has Huawei ID. I plan to buy it from Aliexpress, it is cheaper that way and it comes with global ROM.

AFAIK new Xiaomi phones come with a locked bootloader, that you can unlock via ADB.

And if you buy one that is already unlocked, that means it isn't new, and someone has been at it. Mi account registrations is separate, is nothing to do with bootloader unlocking. But if the phone is already registered to someone else's Mi account, then it definitely is a second hand phone.

Yes, I read on Aliexpres in item description that if you choose to buy Redmi k20 pro with global rom then the seller opens the phones and unlocks bootloader in order to flash that global rom and then send it to you. So I guess you are right, if they open it it isn't new but at least I don't have to wait a week or more for Xiaomi to allows me to ulock it myself. In any case, thanks for telling me that, I'll keep it on my mind :) My consern was only MI account but yesterday I asked a friend who also bought Xiaomi with unlocked bootloader and he said that he entered his MI account and everything is fine :)

That clears that up. With Aliexpress, it's very likely China variant Xiaomis that have been re-flashed with international MIUI(that has Google service). Just be aware as this is grey market, and there isn't any official Xiaomi warranty with those, and it's upto Aliexpress or the individual vendor to provide support and service. Like if there's a problem, you'll need to get an RMA, and then ship the phone back to China at your expense, and wait.

I'm aware of that but I read a tone of comments about that phone and everyone is happy about it, they don't expiriance any lags or bugs so I'm hoping to be one of them. I usually don't buy smartphones like this, on Aliexpress but unfortunatly in my county I can't find the variant of phone that I want 256/8. So I decided to buy on Ali.

Hey guys, one more question, I bought CN rom k20 pro and its bootloader is locked, so I heard that if you want to flash official global rom for k20 pro you don't have to unlock bootloader? Is this true?
