Root [BOUNTY] - Disable UICC R910 (Insert MetroPCS SIM...)

Tried editing the build.prop, tried dialer codes, using ElectricSheep kernel and Basix ROM, disabled RUIM in CDMA Workshop.

I cannot get any service period without the SIM inserted. My problem is, I have about 10 of these with no UICC. I would like to use this device for 3G only.

I got $100 to give for someone who can figure this out. I don't know if the Kernel/Radio/Rom/etc needs modded to disable the UICC or what, but it looks that way to me.

What happens without the UICC, the phone is stuck in airplane mode. If you disable it it the settings, it re-enables itself.

Hopefully there are still suporters for this device that would contribute for this.

I would not mind using this device on PagePlus or cricKet. Right now I use a Droid Eris (omg, I know! LoL)

The UICC tells the phone which network to use. With no UICC it can't use any network (except for making emergency calls). If you're asking how to get a phone to register on a network (which is the only way you'll get 3G) with no UICC, I think the answer is "you can't".

Well, that blows. I can get it to dial *228 with the one UICC that I have and say Welcome to cricKet. I think I am going to try to activate it real quick and see if I get 3G.

I just remember with devices with like the HTC Thunderbolt for instance (completely different, I know) It would not require the Verizon SIM to be on 3G. Must be a completely different technology?

Gemalto, the company that makes the UICC cards made these ones for MetroPCS, correct? I just wish I understood this a little better.
