Hi all! Just got my Nexus one and of course i am playing!Have used MinMo for last 5 years. i have a million questions. first i have read that the internal memory is 512mb but my phone is showing only 170mb free. i have installed a few apps, but nothing much. where is all the memory? how much should be available on a brand new phone? (i didn't check when i first turned it on) also a what "must Have" apps would the group recommend for a novice android user.
Thanks!!!
As a basic, you will want:
- a SMS app (eg SMSPopup, Handcent, ChompSMS)
- a File Explorer (OI File Explorer, ES File Explorer, or many others)
- Facebook, Twitter
- Dropbox (YAY!)
- a NotePad (AK Notepad is my choice)
- Androzip
- Anycut (free) or BetterCut (paid)
- Documents To Go (free version)
- an IM client (Meebo is my favourite but YMMV)
- some Google apps (Google Sky Map, Listen, My Tracks, etc)
- maybe a security app or 2? I got the free lifetime WaveSecure licence (no longer available) and also use Pintail.
On a standard Nexus One (as with all current stock Android phones) the apps can only be installed on the internal memory. I currently have 49.12mb free on mine.
You can root the phone (search on rooting) and install apps on the memory card, or you can be hopeful (like me) that a future update will include this functionality...
