Help Brand New Phone - Headphone jack seems shorted out

Just bought the Samsung Exhibit II 4G, I've had it 3 days. Things seemed to be going well until today when I tried to listen via the headphone jack. It basically doesn't work, or it works a little bit if you wiggle the wire, but it seems like the jack is shorted out. Tried 3 pairs of headphones that I know work fine. Listened to multiple apps, netflix, youtube, mp3s, etc. All with the same results. Audio seems to work fine through the external speaker (even though it is tinty at best).

I spent 3 days setting up this phone, I hate to return it for a lousy headphone jack, but that is sort of a major deal if it isn't working right. Figured I'd float it hear first since I'm a new smart phone user, maybe I'm missing something obvious? Not sure how to resolve a hardware issue, I've rebooted, done a battery pull, etc.. No dice. I've read about a "hard boot". Is that the same thing as a battery pull? Or is that a complete factory reset?

Anyway, if I have to return/exchange the phone, do I keep the sim card since I'm already registered with TMO, and move it to the replacement phone? Thanks for any help.
