Help Bricked Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i (No IMEI Either)

Mental CD

Lurker
I am having a problem. My phone was bricked overnight last night. Now it won't boot past boot screen. It does not connect to computer for use of ODIN or Samsung Kies because of IMEI loss, but it will boot into recovery mode.

this is what shows up on the bottom of recovery mode:-

-- Applying Multi-CSC --
E: failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)
E: failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)

When I do wipe data/factory reset, it comes up with this:-

-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11
Formatting cache...
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl10
Data wipe complete.

Someone please help me restore my phone.

Bear in mind, don't tell me to use ODIN or *#06# as I already know these, but I cannot load past boot screen. I cannot stress this enough to people who are trying to help me.

So you can get into recovery mode but you cannot get into download mode?
IMEI loss does does not cause this, you have done something that has crashed your system and also caused your imei loss.
By the way, how do you know that your imei is lost if you cannot boot up your system?...just curious. :D

If you are rooted and you have a custom recovery installed, you should try to format /system, /data and /cache and try to flash a different rom.

I know IMEI is lost because it happened before my device got bricked, Because this was my sisters phone originally, and she is a dumb sh!t because she don't know the tech side of stuff like this. She has had the phone for about a year now and recently gave it to me to try and fix, IMEI was lost round Early June time, Device brick happened a few nights back.

As for the bricking scenario, I never touched the rooting side of things. Only recovery mode to try to reboot system, but It comes up as I have stated.

I don't lie, I honestly don't know how to flash a Custom Rom properly yet, so I stay away from it for the time being. (Only until I am confident in flashing a custom rom properly)

I swear I do not know what happened to it.

In that case its quite possible that this soft brick has nothing to do with your lost imei. This might be caused by some bad app or just a small malfunction that crashed the system.

You did not answer about the download mode, can you get into that?
If you can then you must try to flash a fresh stock firmware via Odin, its your only chance, it may even restore your imei.
Your current system is inaccessible, you are not rooted so you cannot install a custom rom that way so the only option left for you is Odin, getting back to the factory firmware.
You can use Odin or you can take it to the service center where they will try to reinstall the factory firmware themselves, its your choice.

How do I know if I am in Download mode? I thought download mode past boot screen, past the bit where it says Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i. or am I mistaken?

Also It just crashes on the Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i Screen

No, that's different. You will recognize download mode when you see it
Hit in the key combinations and try to flash the stock firmware via Odin.

I have managed to Un-Brick my device, thanks to my partners father finding download mode for me (I was pressing wrong buttons)

I now have the IMEI issue. I just need to know how to restore this and then I will be eternally grateful to he who helps me.

Thanks

Well if flashing a stock firmware did not help with the imei and you probably also never made a backup of the efs partitions, i don't think there is an option for you.
Lets see if someone else comes up with a solution, this is as far as i can help. ;)
Good Luck

This device I am using, it was my sisters originally, and she had this problem for about 2 months. I decided to take it to try and fix it. I checked to see if there was an EFS partition, but there wasn't any what so ever. She doesn't know what happened so she bought a new phone, She thought it was broken. I do not know where the EFS Partition has gone. But I need to know how to restore IMEI from no back up. I know my IMEI no. (from the back of my battery), But on Status it shows as "IMEI - Unknown"

Is it possible to restore it if I know from the IMEI behind the battery?

It doesn't work that ways :p
The efs partitions contains the imei number, without it there is no imei for you to restore to. If you had made backups of the partition before the loss then you might have had a chance, but i don't think there is a possibility.
There are a few other threads in the forum with similar imei problems, read them and see if there is any help for you.

Fixed using Hex Workshop. XD Thanks for your help though guys.

I used Galaxy Toolbox to backup current EFSpartition.img.SAV file, then opened Hex workshop and located line 0x80000 then in the side bar I then entered my IMEI number underneath the battery. Now it works. XD That shows you can restore IMEI even if it is lost.

I can create a quick Tut if you guys want me to.
