Bricked my s6?

DwzLT

Lurker
Tried flashing a new ota via flashfire and it hanged on me. Phone completely frozen. Responds to download mode but flashing stock roms to it just makes it hang on the "samsung" screen instead. I have no clue what to do now.

Flashing the one firmware I found odin comes back with "failed"

More details please.
-- What is the model I.D. of your S6?
-- Which version of Android was it running?
-- Which version of Odin did you use?
-- Where did you download the ROM that you used?

Are you sure it's 'SM-920F' and not something else like 'SM-G920F'? I'm getting conflicting results looking at both sammobile's and updato's sites.

In the meantime, just some random suggestions
-- If you were attempting to flash a ROM not specifically for your model of S6, that could be part of the problem. Stock ROMs are very version specific, there's no mix-and-matching. The internal hardware for different models is different, primarily the cellular radio chip because different carriers rely on different types of cellular networks. So if that is the case, try downloading the ROM that's for your model. You listed sammobile and that's a reputable site for Samsung stock ROMs. You might also want to use updato instead. While both verify the ROMs they store, sammobile does intentionally restrict the download bandwidth of their download servers, unless you set up an account with them. So even if you have a fast broadband connection, downloading can take quite a while. Updato doesn't do this, so just another option to keep in mind.

-- Instead of using the latest version of the Odin utility, try using an older one that matches the ROM you're flashing. Odin has backwards compatibility issues so the most recent version isn't necessarily best for older hardware. Go here and pick the version that does match:

The good thing is your S6 doesn't appear to be totally hosed, you initially mentioned it still boots up into its Download Mode (where you need to be flash a ROM anyway). That indicates it's still functional, it just sounds like the Android operating system is messed up so (fingers-crossed) flashing the correct ROM should restore it back into working condition.

it was sm-g920f, sorry my mistake. Also the problem was indeed me flashing a different rom for a different model. I tried again with the correct one and it worked. Feel stupid for such a simple mistake but in my defense there's like a million roms out there. Thank you for you reply and time!
